Nicola Sawalhi-Leckenby
Nicola has eight years’ epidemiological experience. Prior to joining Evidera, she was a senior epidemiologist at Informa, where her responsibilities included development and application of robust epidemiologic methods and analyses, including epidemiological forecasting, systematic literature review, content production, and client support. In this role, she developed novel methodologies to predict future disease trends, including accounting for predicted cure rates in Hepatitis C and changes in cancer screening uptake. Nicola also has experience integrating and analyzing demographic, medical, socio-economic, and financial data for longevity and mortality modelling. As a researcher at The Centre of Public Health, Liverpool John Moores University, she was responsible for the center’s Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) research stream, delivering the UK’s first ACE study, and a meta-analysis of ACE studies spanning eight European countries.
Nicola has presented at several conferences, including the Public Health England Annual Conference, and The International Conference on Nightlife, Substance Use and Related Health Issues. She has co-authored papers in high-impact peer-reviewed journals including the International Journal of Epidemiology, Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health, and the Bulletin of the World Health Organization. Nicola holds an MSc in public health research and a BSc in medical sciences, both from the University of Edinburgh.
